Happy to be Alive!

MTV and Body Shop join forces to launch the
Move Your Lips campaign
for the Staying Alive Foundation. Body Shop created a limited edition Guarana Lip Butter to support the campaign to promote awareness and prevention of HIV all over the world. I saw this in Duty Free today, sold at $3.25 per pot. All proceeds go to the Staying Alive Foundation. Limited edition nga pala. :)

There's also a scent created for the same advocacy.
Body Shop's Rougeberry Eau de Toilette for the
Spray to Change Attitudes Campaign
also for HIV awareness and prevention.

* * *
Just to explain how I found myself in Duty Free, well, my uncle's girlfriend (pseudo-wife) wanted to purchase yet another Longchamp bag (she has loads of 'em in different colors) so we headed to Duty Free to take advantage of the sale they have.

My brother and I, being trained in the field of business in our respective schools, have noticed the change in the trend of shoppers in Duty Free. Many years ago says 'Tita Girlfriend', around 20 years, probably, it was very nice to shop in Duty Free. The have all these unique items and the people who shop there are really the well traveled ones. Luxury goods are updated, items are quite exclusive and the service is really good. Today, people flock in big vans and even convoys that seem like the whole barangay, celebrating everyone's pagiging bigtime abroad. Trends aren't very much updated such as bags that are from last season, scents in all these 'tipid packs' as my kuya and I fondly call it. This shift is very much evident in what types and classes of people come to Duty Free. I can't really blame them. I mean, of course they are simply reaping the fruits of their sacrifices abroad. But it is such a shame that Duty Free downgraded quality as well. The aircon wasn't even turned on! There were lots of electric fans turned on but for a department store, moreover, for Duty Free, sheeesh. Howell, must stop ranting since I didn't really buy anything. I'd rather shop in Rustan's, Glorietta and Greenbelt. They have everything that there is in Duty Free and more, at the same price (when you convert to peso) and of course, the aircon.
* * *
Oh, learned something today. Familiar with L'oreal's latest hair care line, the ELSEVE?
I found it in Duty Free too! But it's labeled ELVIVE.

I haven't exactly figured what is behind their marketing strategy but I do want to understand. According to some websites, it's ELVIVE in the UK and Europe but here in the Philippines, it's ELSEVE. But don't worry, it's the same banana. hahahaha

I'vre tried the shampoo and conditioner of ELSEVE. It smells fine but still, the Purple Palmolive variant still smells waaay better. For the job it does, the price is definitely affordable. I swear, even a bi friend commented 'ang bango naman ng hair mo, Adz.' Weeee! Kinilig ako, in fairness sa bi. hahaha Anyway, back to my story, the conditioner works too but I think it is too expensive for the job it does. So, I wasn't really hooked to buy my second bottle of ELSEVE. Nothing beats Kerastase of course. Although I haven't gathered enough strength to let go of two thousand effin bucks for a bottle of shampoo. I just end up having Kerastase on my hair when I get a cut at chosen David's Salons. haha Maybe when I'm waaay richer, I can afford to buy all the Kerastase I want. wooohooo!
* * *

Oh, one last! Even (PRODUCT) RED brand (branchild of U2's Bono and Bobby Shriver, in cooperation with Ecko, Gap, etc.) joins the World in the call for AIDS awareness and prevention. Half of the total proceeds of the RED line go to the Global Fund for AIDS. They started in March 2006 and have by far pooled up to $100 million. Oh, the parenthesis? it's "the embrace". sweet.

Totally Hot

Sobrang init today. Exaaage. I will tell you about my day.

I was too lazy to commute but I had to fight the urge to call the guardhouse for a cab so I walked to the tricycle and shuttle station w/c is just around 100 meters from the house. Outside the village, I scored an FX ride which I was totally happy about. Kaso , when I hopped in, it was humid at talaga naman may amoy pa eh! However, I can't really choose at that point right? So inside, there's this lady who had like two bagfuls of Natasha merchandise on the legroom at the backmost part of the FX. The backseat was filled when two younger ladies got into the FX. I got totally pissed with the lady who sat beside me because one, she was super magulo, second, she kept hitting me sides with her elbow and third, her sticky arm kept hitting my arm which by the way was not sweaty. So diba? Hello naman ,ang lagkit mo kaya! A little farther, the Natasha lady signaled to the driver para. Ideally, any courteous person will open the door to assist the lady in exiting the FX in the shortest possible time. The lady beside me just made way by slanting her legs so that the Natasha lady could pass. But she refused to open the door for her. It pissed me to a point that I had to mumble to her "BUKSAN MO KAYA." Diba? Respeto kasi tawag dun. OR at the very least, show some consideration. As we approached Philcoa, it rained super hard I bet that lady laughed at me when I had to go down. (Hello karma?) But I don't really care. I know I was right. She was just kupal. When I got to school, it was super hot I actually felt pounds shedding away. Hahaha! But it's not the best way to shed pounds y'know. It made us look dugyot.

COMELEC Pictorial. Super dugyot rin. hahaha but fun.

Heto ang winner. This is the real IT'S ALATTAFUN. We had a photo op with Mister Ramon Bautista! Kudos to Fa who ran after him at the oval, and asked for a photo op. wooot. Tim even ran to us just to have his photo taken too! yaaay! I'll post our photos soon. :D

For the lack of better word

Sometimes we give up so fast on people. We let personal things corrupt our mind, thus, we settle on just forgetting what exists. We'd rather shut them out of our minds and accept that things are leading nowhere.

Funny how life gets back at us. Maybe they haven't really forgotten. Maybe they know, it's just that they're having a hard time thinking where to position themselves. Maybe they're busy but it's not like they're gone. And sometimes, all we need is a little time to breathe, little more time to think things over, and even a little bit more time to wait.

shiitake :))

Stressed kaming lahat, kamusta naman. Howell, today was fine. It was our finals in Finance. I sure hope I did well. For two consecutive nights, I've only been able to sleep for three hours a night and I just realized I can't live that life. So this sacrifice must pay off. After the finals, my friends and I left to grab a bite at Wendy's at SM North but we ended up eating at Yellow Cab at Berkeley's. Yay! It was a fun lunch out. yaheeey! Panalo yung shittake mushrooms na amoy utot. hahaha Forgive me for my casual use of the word. But it was a hilarious moment for all of us. Tim, from the execore one-on-one meeting in Chowking, arrived while some of us were taking our last few bites. Farrah was craving for ice cream but since YC ice cream isn't too affordable, some good hearted men (Pat, Ian and Tim) decided to pool some funds so we could buy a big bucket of ice cream at the grocery. While enjoying our dessert, a super bad smell came from nowhere. Pat smelled it first and said
GRABE TIM, AMOY CHOWKING YUN AH!
At first, we didn't get it but at the very first inhalation after Pat's comment, we realized. Damn, it smelled like fart talaga and we were so convinced it was Tim. HAHAHA We dispersed from our tables while laughing at Tim. The yellow cab ladies, including the manager saw us laughing and dispersing so they approached us and said
"Ma'am, yung naamoy niyo po shiitake mushrooms."
The laughter was so intense. Mas bumenta sa akin because super kawawa talaga si Tim na napagkamalan na nagpakawalang ng 'sama ng loob'. HAHAHAHA
* * *
First ever ExeCoun Meeting! Yay! Sorry, can't divulge info. But basically it was about the graduation program. Hurray to the graduates!
* * *
I'm excited for the Comelec pictorial on Monday. Vincent, with his spanking new D-SLR will be our photographer. We don't have a theme yet but our default theme is white. (yeah, like, what's new? hahaha) I'm still looking for a super angas tagline for comelec. yung tipong maaasar sila sa inggit. hahahaha pero we don't mean to harm anyone ha, we are just having fun.

Nothing's changed

It has been quite some time since my last super open conversation with my best friend. Today, after Law class, she took some time to catch up with me. It's always comforting to have someone just listen to you and would make you feel that she really understands every bit of what you said.

I'm really glad to have let it all out to my best friend this afternoon because at this moment, I just feel betrayed by the other friendship that I have invested on.

You know the feeling when you never ask for anything
talaga? At one point, you'd wan to feel important rin naman right? And there it goes, invisible and probably non-existent in the first place. Now that things are going really good in this person's life, I just officially lost my role. You'll never need me naman siguro so ayos lang, I'll spend all my energy on my other friends.

Fine, I might as well start busying myself with org work, summer classes and jogging with my best friend. That way, you'll realize you do not mean the world to everyone (read as: me). ASA KA.

* * *
I sent my best friend a text message after our conversation.

I missed talking to you like that. Nothing's changed.
You're still my best friend.
Kahit na may *** ka na.
HAHAHAHA

Dapat tulog na ako

Yes, I should be sleeping right now but no. I find myself reading blogs and forums about the recent and past University Elections and I shall post the funny ones. hahahaha I labeled them na rin to cater to their niche. hahaha

Pag slang ka...
RYE here, RYE now. Make the RYE choice.

Pag mahilig ka sa corny but super benta...
Tin-Nem-Bang (tin servando, nem canete, bang dizon) =))
Isulong ang progresibong pagbabago...Steph by Steph!
Don't forget my Nem...
If aiken, you can! =aiken ng pol sci, running for a cssp-sc councilor position

There are others worth mentioning but I can't find their niche so I picked one lang. here it is...
yes na yes kay noel reyes.

PANALO DIBA? :)) good night, world!

oooh,wait...totoo bang may helicopter si steph tan? my gawd, bumenta sakin. I just read in in a blog. lemme know, okie? ;)

Mango ni Barnett

Today I spent my whole morning sleeping, my whole afternoon understanding Chapter 11 of Finance, and my whole evening catching up with people while doing exercises for Finance.

NEWS! Barnett got an internship in MANGO, as in the clothing brand Mango. woot woot! I changed my stat message to
BARNETT, GUSTO KO SUMAMA SA MANGO INTERNSHIP MOOOOO. :D

In seconds, three people ym-ed me to inquire and verify if it's the MANGO Clothing brand. hahaha

Good job Barnett! and!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!We love you!

Nga pala, to Nica Yan and Vincent, I apologize wala kayong birthday greeting on my blog. busy lang ako nun. but you know we love you guys. :)

THE SONG I must internalize

Chasing Pavements - Adele

Ive made up my mind
dont need to think it over
if im wrong i am right
dont need to look no further
this aint lust i know this is love

but if i tell the world
i'll never say enough
cos it was not said to you
and thats exactly what i need to do
if i end up with you

should i give up
or should i just keep chasing pavements
even if it leads no where,
or would it be a waste
even if i knew my place should i leave it there.
should i give up
or should i just keep chasing pavements
even if it leads nowhere

i build myself up
and fly around in circles
waiting as my heart drops
and my back begins to tingle
finally could this be it

or should i give up
or should i just keep chasing pavements
even if it leads no where,
or would it be a waste
even if i knew my place should i leave it there.
should i give up
or should i just keep chasing pavements
even if it leads nowhere

yeaaah ehh

should i give up
or should i just keep chasing pavements
even if it leads no where,
or would it be a waste
even if i knew my place
should i leave it there

should i give up
or should i just keep on chasing pavements
should i just keep on chasing pavements

ohhhh ohh

should i give up
or should i just keep chasing pavements
even if it leads nowhere
or would it be a waste
even if i knew my place should i leave it there

should i give up
or should i just keep chasing pavements
even if it leads nowhere

counting today's blessings

First,I want to thank God for helping me in the ABAM elections. Thank you for everyone who voted for me. Yay! Elections High

Things you did not know about the Elections. hahaha

1. The night before the elections, we got news regarding the greatest fear of every comelec memeber- Manual elections.

2. UP UNPLUGGED created the Halalan Software for our computerized elections. Sobrang galing nila. They spoke in tongues.

3. There was a notice of power interruption from Meralco. Kamusta naman ang timing nila noh? But wait! Destiny has a plan...

4. With destiny against us, CBA's transformer decided to give up on us on the day of elections. The consequence? COMELEC RED ALERT. We had plan B and C. B was to move to the MBA computer Lab at the ground floor and have the generators of BA running. Plan C was THE BOMB- Manual elections. (scare number two.) Sosyal si Ma'am Talavera. She told sina Kuya Rolly, etc. "Gusto ko e prepare mo yung mga generators natin. Wala akong pakialam, kailangan may kuryente tayo."

5. A hell lot of people left their ID's at the comelec booth. Oh, claim them from Kitch nga pala! hahaha

6. Ma'am Glo Talavera, Sir Erick Capistrano and Sir Manuel Manuel are suuuper kalog. aylavem!

7. Fun fun fun but tense wait for results.

8. DZUP (UP masscom's radio station) was covering the elections. From time to time, they aired live interviews.

I totally enjoy comelec. I definitely want to be part of Comelec 2009. Yay!

5 Random facts about me

1. I always claim I am shy. Yes, I am! But only when I am in an unfamiliar territory. hahaha

2. I totally love Lipton Red Tea. I'm supper addicted to it, I have to drink at least one 500 ml bottle a day. If I run out of Red Tea at the BA coop/snack bar, I really get irritated. It happened twice. hahaha *ehem...Lipton must make me their new endorser.ehem*

3. I love white! Most of my clothes are in white. I always buy stuff in white (first choice). When I am super rich already, I'll wear white tops everyday. hahahaha (I love wearing denims rin so tops lang ang white. haha) But then again, that's just what I feel now. hahaha

4. I love non-loud, no-shouting music. Just tonight, while hanging out with a friend, I realized when you're the silent type, you prefer loud music. If you're energetic and sociable, you like mellow music. At least, I think ha.

5. I am trying to bring back my interest in reading. I was into reading back in high school but I sort of had a 'reading block' when I got frustrated with 100 years of Solitude. I won't post my reading list but first on my list is The Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I postponed Catch 22 muna. hahaha

Sooo, didja learn something new about me? haha

There! I tag Nica Yan, Fa and everyone who is interested to answer. hahaha ;)

At your service

YAY! Election is half over. hahaha Super tiring but definitely fun fun fun and worth going through. We will be busy manning the table for online elections from 8 am to 7 pm (for the MBA students). Tim even mentioned that our break time will only be lunch and washroom visits. Howell, I am totally excited for the computerized elections since it's gonna be the first time in CBA. Yay! I am also very excited, especially after the controversial meeting de avance. To add to that, election results are real time!!! Yay! No more counting of ballots. woot woot!

Speaking of my stint with the comelec...
It's really hard when you are faced with role conflicts. You want to be a good and supportive friend at the same time you have to do your job. It is really tough. I have been in situations where right then and there I wanted to remove my ID and just be a friend. But what keeps me in Comelec is that I know my friends understand. And that I have other ways to be a good friend to them such as reminding them of guidelines, deadlines and important announcements that may be crucial to their campaigns.

I just want everything to end na. I know it's gonna end soon. For the meantime, little hugs in between wouldn't hurt. ;)
