Life rant

How can the perfect guy exist and not be available for you? INJUSTICE!

Some months ago, some friends and I listed our pegs for the perfect guy for each of us. Today I just added a peg on my list. And he's real. Not some fictional character like Puck or Nate Archibald.

Sobrang pasok siya in every detail. The profession, the character, the 'mukhang mabait' look, even the school. So you can just imagine my silent surprise. UGH, LOVE IT!

Then again, glad we're friends now. Temporarily unavailable lang ang cheeseburger pero isang araw, special delivery pa right at my doorstep.

EXCITING!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Hiphop Saturday Session 3! Oh my gosh you guys, today was a blast! But not without misadventures!

I was excited coz Farrah and Jen are back to attend class with me and Cams. I decided to wear my old sneakers because it glides better on the floor. I left home a little past 10 am and rode the bus to Tandang Sora. If you're familiar with the bus, there's two or three steps to take to reach the row of seats. My right foot hit the last step and I felt it...I felt the sole of my shoe come off. Apparently it wasn't just an old pair. It was a very old pair. HAHAHA

So I sat on the nearest empty seat and mentally weighed my options. To hop off, go home and change shoes or pray that Jen is a size 9 and borrow from her. (Her house is located on the street beside the dance studio.) I had to risk it. I texted Jen about my dilemma. Mygosh she's a size 8 but I was desperate so I said pwede na yan! Thank God I packed a pair of slippers with me so I changed into them while on the bus. Imagine if I didn't bring slippers?! Oh Lord, you are amazing.

Just to make sure, I passed by 7-Eleven, bought a ridiculously overpriced super glue (80 pesos!!!) AND WTH IT DIDN'T REPAIR MY SHOE. Sayang yung 80 pesos. After a few minutes Fa picked me up from Jollibee beside 7-Eleven. A little after we got to the studio, Cams was already there. Jen arrived with my emergency shoes. THANK GOD THEY FIT. Literal na fit ha. As in fit na fit a.k.a. MASIKIP. :))

Now the class. There were only six girls. Four of us and then Riza (special mention #1 in session 2) and then a new girl Reg. It was a great class. Less people, more space for each of us and we belong to the same age group so it's pretty easy to get along. Coach started teaching us. At first I still felt the usual pressure I feel but I forced myself to release the tension and just dance the way I dance at home. WALA NANG HIYA HIYA! hahaha

During our waterbreak, Coach left the room so we had a chance to throw in some comments like 'I can't do this step or that. This one is too fast, I skip a step to catch up, etc.' When Coach came back, we started with our second set of steps.

After completing the sets, Coach said 'I'd like to see, hmmm...these two dance.' OMG I ALMOST DIED. These two = Me and Riza. Sabi ko 'Sabayan mo kami Sir.' "Yah, sure!" AYIIIIEEEE LANDI. I KNOW. (Funny how Riza and I are both 'healthy' so at first akala ko size showdown. :)) But Riza's a little bigger. Mga parang si Mercedes sa Glee.)

So there, sample chuva lalala. Then Coach said "The reason I picked these two is that they got groove." He points to me saying "I like your groove." OMG CAN YOU FEEL MY HEART FLUTTER? Then he tells everyone 'you know this *does the step* gotta have the groove from the start. Practice grooving everywhere. Like when you hear music, groove to it. I JUST HAD TO SAY THIS ALOUD: 'Sir, kung alam mo lang.' EVERYONE LAUGHED! So tinuloy ko na yung joke... Luto ka na, *grooove*! Laba ka na, *grooove*! Remind me to demonstrate this. haha Glad everyone was laughing. It's nice to attend a class where you're friends with everyone. A lot of jokes were thrown in the session.

We had this side kick step and Coach said 'your kick has to be strong. Think that there's this annoying person beside you that you want to kick hard. I joked 'Sir, sir, dito ka nga (sa tabi ko). OMG everyone laughed but Coach didn't get the joke. He laughed but he probably thought we were laughing coz of his tip.

Anyway we did the set again two more times and then he dismissed the class with the final woohoos and claps for everyone. Coach approached and gave us high fives. I'd like to think Riza and I got special high fives. With Riza's he had this roaring sound effect na super angas. I was the last one who got a high five so we kinda got into a small talk. All I remember is 'I like your groove. The first day you were shy but now you've got it.' Something like that. I'm giddy he remembers me from the first day. *yes, insert giggle here* All I said in reply was 'Thank you!"

He was in a waaaay better mood today and I love it so much. Riza agrees he was 'out of it' last week.

Okay I am talking like a crazy teenager (hahaha feelingera?). This should be entitled 'Chronicles of today's hiphop class.' Because I seriously don't want to forget anything about my eventful morning.

Just so we're clear, yes some* friends and I find our dance teacher hottt. He's married with two kids. 'Nuff said.

*(some = excluding Fa)

DON'T LAUGH

HAHAHA

So like what I tweeted, I took an exam about single-hood and here's what it says.

You don't have a boyfriend because you don't really want one. I know you think you do, but boys are not really a huge priority in your life. You see a boyfriend as, well, a male companion, and while romance is fun, just having fun is better. You're pretty carefree, and your life centers around your social life, and around your friends, not around guys. But don't worry. You'll meet a guy who is the same way, then you'll hit it off. Until then, keep shining! Guys like you, but you're like a star. They can't bring you down.

I HOPE THIS IS TRUE.

Take the test here.

Tawa ka nalang :)

I woke up to the sound of raindrops. LOVE! It's actually the first time I didn't complain about the rain. I was scheduled to buy groceries so on a normal day, I would have been pissed that it's raining but we need rain and I prayed that it rains soon so yey! Not just me. As a matter of fact when I heard mass at Quiapo last Wednesday, the priest led a prayer for rain. So glad it was answered!

Anyway, so I went to SM to get some groceries because dad is arriving on Sunday. On my way home, I dropped by Starbucks because I've been craving for caramel frappuccino for two weeks and I knew I just need to get one. While waiting in line I decided to do something just for kicks. When it was my turn to order, the male barista asked for my name. I said 'Ruffa'. Yes as in Ruffa Gutierrez because of the recent award winning news of her walk out. hahaha

The barista smiled as he scribbled my name on the cup. The other guy who was on the counter said to me 'Your bill is 135 Ruffa'. I couldn't stop grinning THE WHOOOLE TIME. Barista 1 obviously noticed and said 'Parang ang saya saya mo ngayon Ruffa ah'. In my mind I wanted to say 'Shempre noh bati na kami ni Kris. love love love!' But I was alone so wala akong lakas ng loob to do it. I just said 'haha wala lang' (still smiling but trying hard not to. haha)

The girl who prepared my frap called out 'One grande caramel prappuccino for Ru...Ruffa' hahahaha natigilan? nakakaloka! HAHAHA So there, I had fun! Next time I'll do a Sam and Piolo with some friends. I heard that story before. Some guys used Sam and Piolo for their drinks and then the other people inside Starbucks went looking for Sam and Piolo. HAHAHA LOOOOVE! Or maybe Juday-Gladys, or MARA- CLARA, or AGUA-BENDITA.

Flashback: In the spirit of Ruffa-Kris eksena, I remember doing a Kris in Starbucks Intramuros. It was a spur of the moment road trip after ABAM induction. Went there with Caloi, Tim, Ace, Jam, Aldren and Elai.

That time the McDo 'deal or no deal' ad of Kris just launched. The barista suggested a lot of drinks to us and when we finally placed our orders, he asked me something (I can't recall) basta I replied 'DEAAAAAL' with matching 'damoves' (in picture). Tawa kami ng tawa pati mga barista. hahahaha

Hope you had a good laugh today! :)

What's brewing? plus my social experiment

Haven't posted lately because I've been busy with a lot of things like sleeping. hahaha Kidding aside, I really am busy. It's Dad's 50th birthday this Sunday, I'm leaving in 4 days (gotta pack!), it's my brother's prom (apparently it is my task to pick a suit for him), and I'm working on a new idea. It's been making my late night internet hours productive, and it's been putting my skills to a test. Will reveal more when I'm less busy.

Another reason which occupied my week was, ever since last weekend, my brother has been experiencing on-and-off fever. Last night we were having Japanese dinner at RaiRaiKen at the mall, when I noticed rashes on my brother's arms. He wasn't feeling weak or anything. But his temperature was pretty hot. Shempre, Mom and Dad got nervous coz it might be dengue so after dinner we decided to go to the emergency room of St.Paul's Hospital just to be sure.

A junior med intern interviewed him if he had allergies, asthma, whatever illness history, and then at the end of the many questions, she asked (in dialect) "So ano ba talaga yung reason bat ka nagpadoctor ngayon?" MYGOSH I flipped talaga! ATEH ANUBEEEH?! Good thing I was there when she asked. Ako na yung sumagot (in Tagalog/Filipino) "Kasi tatlong araw na siyang nilalagnat" in a very factual bordering 'are you stupid' tone. I couldn't help but do a little glare. MYGOSH SA DAMI NG TINANONG MO, AKO PA TALAGA MAGDA-DIAGNOSE SA SAKIT NG KAPATID KO? Super major kaloka talaga yung tanong niya. I whispered to mom to talk to her in Tagalog.

Side story about speaking in Tagalog. In the first few weeks of my stay here in Iloilo, I did a social experiment. Basically all I have to do is talk to people in Tagalog- when ordering food, when inquiring about a service or product, when shopping. The result? Apparently, they get taranta when you speak to them in Tagalog. Consequently, they pay a closer attention to you with the aim to impress you with their hospitality. Yung tipong 'ayaw mapahiya' kasi taga ibang lugar ka. It is both good and bad for me. Good because I get good customer service. Bad because it seems like they don't treat fellow Ilonggos (by that I mean those who speak to them in our dialect) the same way they treat Tagalog-speaking customers.

It's a very typical Pinoy character to put our best foot forward in front of foreigners. Palagi tayo nagpapa-impress sa mga dayuhan. Bakit sa kanila lang? Don't we deserve the same hospitality that these foreigners receive? Tayo na nga ang magkaka lahi, tayo pa ang nagmamaramot. What's a genuine smile or a little more attention to Filipino customers? We're paying the same price! we want the same service.

Of course living in Manila did raise my standards. In Manila, attendants are really nice (in general) and well, attentive. haha You raise your hand for your bill and in a seconds (okay, maybe a minute) , your bill is on your table. Here in the province, you raise your hand and they only notice you after a few waves to call their attention. While Manila waiters are busy making sure your orders are complete and your glass is filled with water or bottomless iced tea, waiters here in the province are busy looking at the foreigner's table, or making usyoso at the table of the pretty lady or the gays' table, or talking to each other until you do drastic hand waves and finger flicks, and they FAHAAAYNALLEHH take notice. Manila waiters are trained to spot a raised hand in their peripheral vision. But of course, this is not to say all restaurants in Iloilo are like that. There also a lot which have good service.

I guess my point is, we have to be Filipinos not just by blood, or in language, but at heart. We are never truly Filipino when we do not treat our fellow Filipinos the way we treat foreigners. We will never be Filipinos when we keep seeing ourselves as second class citizens. We are treated as second class citizens in other countries, we can't afford to still be second class in our own country. We are first class here in the Philippines. We all deserve first class service, first class smiles and first class attention.

Oh, and that junior intern? Mom said "kung ako instructor nun, hindi ko yun ipapasa!" hahaha You can say we had a good laugh. But that's after the incident na. Joop's tourniquet test was positive but the blood tests were negative. It's just trangkaso.

Kwento kwento lang

Literally. haha I'm so stressed and I haven't really thought about things lately so I'll just kwento stuff.

ORPHANAGE VISIT
Yesterday Ana, Mau and I visited the orphanage in Binondo. It was all good except the part where the tricycle driver charged us 100 pesos for the ride from Ongpin to DelPan. I was so pissed but I believe in karma so Manong Driver, mamalasin ka rin one day. Or malay ko ba minamalas ka na kaya dinadaya mo na rin yung mga taong tulad namin.

The nuns were so accommodating. The Indian nun who showed me their grocery list even reminded me that we need not donate everything on the list. She said something like "Whatever you can give, even if it's a small thing, we are very grateful for the blessing." She kept repeating "That's very nice of you and your friends to help us here."

Anyway after the visit we made our way back to Quezon City. It was a very tiring ride because it was rush hour and well, Manila does not have the widest roads so it took us 1.5 hours to get from Quiapo to Trinoma.

STICKER-HAPPY
After dinner we went to Starbucks in the garden of Trinoma. I was telling my friends to give me their stickers if they don't have plans of getting a planner. Then this guy on the next table approached and said "excuse me, nagcocollect ka ba ng stickers?" Shempre I was surprised! In my mind I was thinking 'Shet maybe he's selling his stickers to me. SCALPER?! NO WAY!' So nag inarte ako and replied "Uhh, yeah...-ish." HAHAHAHA Then he said "You can have my sticker card. Pwede naman i-combine yung cards eh." So I accepted it and thanked him nicely. SOOO AWKWARD! Buti nalang cute siya. haha But minutes later, a girl arrived and left with him. haha oh well papel. Such a sweetie.

ORGANIC SOAPS
I purchased my organic soaps online and met up with the seller today at SM Fairview. Organic soaps don't come cheap. Each bar sells from Php95 to 125. I wanted to try these because I guess I just got bored with the commercial soaps (my staples are Johnson's citrus fresh, Safeguard white, Biolink papaya soap which all sell for less than 40 pesos each).

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
I'm not halfway my Christmas shopping. I've only bought gifts for my Mom and Joop. Sooo hard to think of gifts! haha

RED RIBBON
If you love bangus, you have to try Red Ribbon's bangus ala pobre. Super yummy, super cheap! For Php 137, you get the bangus meal, a drink and a slice of cake for dessert. yehey!

FOOTWEAR
Found really cute and affordable oxford leather flats at Manel's. I didn't buy it coz I wanna finish my Christmas shopping first. I'll buy for myself last. hehe

I'm really loving the Christmas spirit! I just wish it's colder, like back in senior year, there was a certain month (or months) that I'd wear a jacket and socks to sleep! In school I was always in jeans and a jacket. It was even colder outside our air-conditioned classroom. Feeling ko winter! I really miss that time.

RENOVATIONS...AGAIN
Mom called me up two nights ago to tell me to shove all our stuff in the room before I leave because the house will be renovated again. This time it's gonna be the floor. The crazy cut marble floor will be replaced by uhh, probably huge granite tiles. It's not that I don't like but this is another waste of time. Our floor is as good as new. Really! No cracks at all. It's the only reminder that this house is 'old' (in a good way). And I hate it that they're changing it! My mom hates it too coz it's an unnecessary change and a waste of money.

GLOBE
I hate Globe for a crappy service! Weeks ago when dad and I traveled to Bicol, I was using mobile web to tweet and check my emails. I was aware of their two ways of charging mobile browing- the default is kb browsing which charges you per kilobyte sent, and then time browsing that charges Php 5 for 15 minutes. Of course I switched to time browsing (send TIME to 1111). Then I got a notification today that my bill is 2500! LIKE WTF?! I am sooo gonna get to the bottom of this and crucify them. hahahaha oveeeerr?! Ah basta, I hate Globe for cheating on their subscribers. Good thing the message they sent me about having switched to time browsing is still on my phone. Patay talaga kayo sa akin. haha

Anywaaaay, dapat good vibes na! Christmas is super near and I'm excited! For that I'll try to tweet about things that I love. Pang dagdag good vibes diba? This 'tweet what you love' was inspired by my friend since grade school Chris Orleans. haha

(Btw I watched New Moon again this afternoon shet. hahaha Will kwento my experience tomorrow.)

KALOKA!

Lots of kalokas today!

CONGRATULATIONS TO MANNY PACQUIAO! MONEY MONEY MONEY PACQUIAO! hahaha Seventh title, why noooot?! Kaloka! I sooo bet he's gonna fight Mayweather Jr. next. But according to Julius Babao, it won't happen next year coz of elections. I love Pacman as a boxing hero but not as a singer, an actor, and definitely not as a politician. Hohum, it doesn't make him less of an icon anyway. hahaha

As if my post last night wasn't kaloka enough for me, I had another kaloka moment today. I tried to rebook my flight to Iloilo from Dec.17 to Dec.19 to allow me to attend the lantern parade and the batch party (in the works). OMG IT'S SOOO NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Rebooking would cost me twice the amount of the original ticket.HELLO?!

And lastly, this one really cracked me up! I was sooo determined to get that cappuccino wash on ebay so I signed up for an account and sent an inquiry. Juskolaaard I got a reply IN CHINESE! hahahaha I'm still determined to get that cappuccino wash so I'm hoping powerretail can do the purchasing for me. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW PAYPAL WORKS SO SCREW THAT. Or wait, any of you here purchase on ebay? help me please! hahaha
