MarkeThing

Marketing Strategies are really weird sometimes.

Sometime last November, I was late for my Marketing class so I ended up sitting on the first empty seat I saw when I entered the room. I was beside Weng. She told me about her experience one day when she was shopping for some grocery with Rhett. Alaska has two different packages for the same product. There's Alaska Condensed milk and Alaska condensada. Weng thinks Alaska is trying to target two different segments- the
masa, then the middle and upper class. I asked her about the price but she didn't notice it daw.
This afternoon, I went with my Mom and Dad to the mini grocery outside our village. I remembered the trivia when my mom and I passed by the aisle of dairy products. Yes, i showed off a bit by telling her about the trivia. But don't worry, I acknowledged Weng for telling me about it. haha I took notice of the difference in their prices.

The yellow one costs P28.70 and the blue one sells at P23.30.

Oh, it's not just the condensada. Even their evaporated milk was re-packaged into evaporated milk and evaporada.

However, this time, the yellow one costs P18.45 and the red one is sold at P17.60.I don't understand the need to create two different packagings. I think it isn't only to target the masa and the better off markets. oh well. My next project? Try each of them and see if it tastes different. haha ;)

Okay, now I have to go finish Chapter 2 of Kotler's Marketing Principles. :P
